"Homosexuality has been found in over 450 species. Homophobia, just in one. Which one's wrong now?" -@Trendeh
That statement starts with a so-called "fact." We could go into the ridiculous claims scientists make about all sorts of things, but that's not what I want to get into. Let's just say that it's true. What species is anything like a human being in that it would have the mind capacity to know (and I speak morality) right from wrong? Or make life altering decisions based on logic AND be able to plan an outcome off that decision? I've heard plenty of people say that knowing right and wrong is based on what's socially accepted based on the current era/time period. That seems to be the case when you look at this world and how it's changed from year to year. The thing is there is always solid truth. A car is a car. It's not a motorcycle just because some ass clown stole 2 of the wheels off it. Right and wrong is the same way.
The trend these days seems to be "go green" and "fight hate" yet that's just it... It's a trend. For example you wear the coolest gear to show that you fit in right? Then when something new is out you jump off and onto a new band wagon. No of course not, you're too different and original. You think in the years to come when it's socially accepted there will be some homosexuals that will have a bad attitude against straight people for the years of torment their gay forefathers went through? You know exactly what I'm talking about don't give me that crap. My point is most of the people that are in the fight against hate, fight it WITH hate. So how do you truly fight hate? Well first you have to know what love is. I'm sorry people but love is not one of those things that change with an era/time period. Just like right and wrong, it's an absolute. The problem is that everyone treats it as if it is just whatever is socially accepted. The fight against hate will never end because this world is filled with pure evil.
Let's go back to where the question in that quote said "homophobia was found in only one species, which ones wrong now?" as cliche as it sounds... two wrongs don't make a right.
Unfortunately I can see how homophobia would set in for some people. You may say that gay people don't automatically want to get with you the second they meet you just because you're the same sex, but I HAVE met gay people that are that way actually! It's quite unsettling.
If you were to ask me why homophobia is wrong I'd say it's because of fear and hate for something unfamiliar. If you were to ask me why homosexuality is wrong I'd say it's because Jehovah God designed men after his own image and created women to be with man. He also said be fruitful and multiply. That just can't happen when homosexuals are together. What about those that don't believe in God but believe in science or other theories instead? I don't know why they would say it's wrong, nor do I know why they would say it's right. Their faith is based on unproven theories convincingly put together by mankind(Yes it still takes faith to not believe in a supreme being). Theories that have changed and been updated throughout years and years. There's no telling what new discoveries could revolutionize scientific thought about mankind in the next week. "The bible was created by men, written by men, they could have put anything they want in it, it's logical to dismiss that rubbish." says the common self thinker. You would be surprised if you researched the history of the creation of the bible, even if you just compare the prophecies foretold in the book to world events recorded in secular history. They line up more than the tail bone I dropped about 30,000 years ago or so.
I'm not blogging to be an apologetic for the bible right now though. What I'm here to say is "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." If that's what you believe love is, then I'm pretty sure you have a successful opportunity in the "fight for hate and equality."
Love homosexual people it doesn't matter if they're wrong. Love homophobics and love all races of people. Love those that hurt you. Love those that disagree with your belief system....etc.
Love keeps no record of wrongs.
